We have a number of volunteering opportunities— if you are available at least two hours a week. Help is appreciated, and you get the satisfaction of doing something good for your community. SAW Habitat for Humanity is committed to helping our community by providing affordable home ownership to responsible families with lower incomes.
COMMITTEE WORK
SAW HFH carries out its housing ministry through committees that keep our organization going.
Will you give your time and talent to one of these committees to help God’s people in need of simple, decent, affordable housing?
Each committee meets once a month. The Commmittees are:
Community & Church Relations:
Volunteers help by contacting and working with media about our events, help produce our newsletter, help our relationships with churches and encourage people of faith into action by participating in Habitat.
Construction Committee:
Members include licensed contractors and semi-skilled workers who ensure the planning and construction for our homes. This team finds building sites and house plans, obtains all permits and building materials and helps construct the homes.
Fundraising:
Volunteers raise funds for our home building by soliciting gifts or pledges of funds from individuals and businesses,donations of land and new building materials, or fundraising functions.
Family Partnership:
Volunteers interview and select the partner families based on our criteria. Members nurture partner families by meeting with them once a month, helping families keep a budget, keeping track of their sweat equity hours and being there for support.
ReStore:
There are several positions for volunteers to best match their skills and interests. We would like to fill shifts for the following positions:
- Cashier
- Sales Associate
- Pick-up Specialist
- Receiving Clerk
- Display/Merchandising specialist.
If you have one day a week, the time, skills, and enjoy working with the public, we need you to help make our ReStore a success!
Volunteer Relations:
Members help us recruit, train and coordinate volunteers for the ministry of Habitat. Committee members help the other committees by soliciting volunteers to join us, working with other committees to identify our volunteer needs and connecting new volunteers with committees and tasks.
